Quarter Horses
The QUARTER HORSE is one of the oldest and most popular American horse breeds.
The breed owes its name to the fact that the Quarter Horse is a very fast sprinter who excels at short-haul races of a quarter of an English mile (400 m). Quarter Horses are very intelligent. They are reliable and very easy-going. It is the most popular horse in America.
With about 5,000,000 registered horses, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) is the world’s largest studbook. The Quarter Horse is not only very famous as a racehorse, it is also highly suitable for rodeo, horse shows, as a workhorse on the ranch or simply as a family friend to go for walks.
The compact build of the Quarter Horse makes it ideally suited for very fast movements displayed in a wide variety of disciplines, such as reining, cutting and working cow horse. It is also very suitable for barrel racing, calf roping, particularly when working with cattle. It also holds its ground when hitched to a wagon.
The Quarter Horse is the most versatile horse breed in the world.
